Just bought a 2016 CRZ - S+ Button Question

I bought a 2016 CRZ CVT a week ago and I don't think my S+ button is working correctly - I could use some clarification from more experienced owners.

I have tried using the button in all three modes, at various speeds, and at various levels of acceleration. The "S+ is Ready" will be lit up on the dash, but never starts blinking or engaging when I push the button. My IMA battery charge also never really goes down? I don't think my battery has ever been below 80% charge. Is this normal?
